This is the longest I’ve gone without posting in 6 months! THis is also the most stressed out I’ve been in the past 6 months, too. Between my current assignemnts, my new freelance job, my real job, and applying for jobs and internships – I don’t even have time to workout as much. 😦
But hey, it’s all worth it. I just have a lot on my plate right now. BUT since I’ve started this journey to simplicity, I’ve felt better already. Not as many obligations. My room is cleaner. My mind is clearer. We’re makin’ it over here.
I’ve been reading blogs about minimalist lifestyles for a while now. I’m drawn to all the clean lines and neutral colors that lie in most of the photos. It’s aesthetically pleasing to say the least, but is it real?
I love the idea of having less things and being able to enjoying life more, but I’m definitely aware of being far from that at this point. I’m going to start scaling down my possessions, letting go of my stuff so I don’t feel as weighed down.
Stuff. That’s a good word for the abundance of things I own. From books, clothes, and shoes, appliances, even comforters – I have so many things I don’t use.
Honestly, half my closet could be thrown away and I bet it’d take me 6 months to notice what’s actually missing. I don’t like that at all so it’s time for a change.
I’m moving in a couple months so now it’s time to really take this seriously! I can already see myself loading up my car with all the “things I might need one day” and items that “I’ve had too long to throw away” and without a place to put them – and I can’t let that happen.
It’s gonna be so satisfying to find a new home for my possession that no longer have a use in my life. My blog is here to hold me accountable and track my process. I feel like it’s the only way I’ll ever get anything done.
The items I’d like to minimize are:
- * pretties * (vases, wall art, etc)
- Any item that could be placed in a “junk drawer”
I still have a good timeframe to get this done and I’ve already started on my clothes so I’ve got this project moving along. .I’ll be posting my progress and what I’m doing to decrease!
I feel so great about this change and I’m able to get a head start on my spring cleaning 🙂
